I'm Rahul Rana, a summer associate at Lux Capital ($4bn frontier tech/hard sciences VC) and author of Making Moonshots (https://www.amazon.com/Making-Moonshots-Rahul-Rana/dp/163676620X)
I'm studying astrophysics and finance, and at Lux I am investing/incubating companies in space, life sciences, climate, and more. At the moment, I am helping to build a drug discovery company around biodiversity and non-model organisms. Feel free to reach out if your company needs funding or any startup advice! I'm happy to help this entire community :)
I’d really like to start a list of lab equipment that wasn’t designed to be lab equipment.— Lindsey O'Neal Yoder (@DrLindzyONeal) July 2, 2021
What does your lab use to save avoid over paying for something from a scientific supplier?
e.g. a light board for tracing/ drawing instead of a white light transilluminator
https://peerj.com/preprints/1504/ has some
hypothes.is had some
I know Adam Marblestone tried Beagle which had a great concept but somehow didn't take off (it's SO HARD TO GET SCIENTISTS TO ADOPT NEW POST-PDF PLATFORMS, which is, like, strange b/c SO many of us hate PDFs and want them done with already)
💎 Any fun facts about you? Cats or dogs? A kingdom for a horse! 🐎 Oh, and I speak 7 languages — Russian, English, French, Czech (fluent), Japanese, Spanish (intermediate), and German (forgetting by the day).
💎 Any fun facts about you? I was a voice actor on a single episode of a Korean show. The studio offered me a reoccurring role, but because I didn't have recording equipment in SF, it became a 1-episode arrangement :(
